Time

Time is everywhere, it influences virtually everything we do. It’s the mark of history. Time is the future. It’s on your wall, it’s on your wrist. It dictates how you spend your day and also your life.

We talk about time – all the time. We have to be somewhere by a certain time… do you remember that time, it’s winter time, it’s summer time, it’s time to go, I’m pushed for time, I never have enough time !

Time is one thing we all are allocated when we’re born and the clock starts ticking from that point.

If you’re ten years of age you have plenty of time. A ten year old isn’t so concerned with time, it’s abundant.

If you’re thirty or forty years old – you may be bringing up young children or teenagers and all that involves, running them around, looking after their needs, the pressures of running a household. You might always feel rushed or looking for more time.

As I’ve become older, I’m more aware of how I spend my time. I aim to get the best value I can out of my time. I like to treat it like a commodity. I don’t undervalue it. I’m not necessarily talking about a financial charge but rather my time is well spent on the right people, tasks and activities that deliver a feeling of value and enjoyment.

So what’s the message?

  1. Manage your time to get the best value you can at what ever stage in life you’re at. It’s amazing what you can achieve when you actively manage you’re time – by being organised and disciplined you will gain more available time.

  2. Know what you actually want to do. We all have bills to pay, but what gets you inspired (and I’m not talking about online shopping!) – what do you really want to spend your leisure time doing? Be creative, get active or invest your time improving your knowledge and skill sets. It will give you a feeling of time well spent –  a great value add.

  3. Give your time to people who really need it – not foolish energy thieves.

  5. We all need and enjoy rest but wasting time being uninspired and lazy isn’t right. If you can’t bear leaving the couch then read, write, draw, paint or seek some value from your most important commodity.

Really important note:

No one knows how much time they have. Time is ticking. Spend it wisely and get as much value as you can out of your allocated time. And more than anything, enjoy the ride! – RD
