TGIF

Thank God its Friday. How often is it we say this? I know for me, it is a weekly occurrence. Oddly enough, I have been thinking about this post for a few days and how best to get my thoughts onto the page. I came home to find RD had posted a very similar thread not an hour before. What this tells me, I’m not the only one struggling with the working week.

Work is work and it has to be done for the majority of us. It is something that whether we like it or not, we accept. We are all chasing that day when we wake up and go to a place to do what we love. This may still be work, but we no longer view it as work, it is a hobby, it is fun, it is what we want to be doing. Personally, I want to play cricket for Australia. Realistically, this probably won’t happen (Unless the whole team walks out). Whilst accepting this fact, it got me thinking, ‘what else do I enjoy?’.

Well for one, playing cricket is my first true love. It is something I have been doing since I was four on the lawns of the Mint in Canberra and it will be something I do for as long as I can. There are days when it gets long and boring (or very short if I get a duck), but the times at cricket, I wouldn’t swap for anything. The mates you play with, the winning, the personal satisfaction of doing your part is second to none.

I also love driving my car. I own a Volkswagen Golf GTi and I love it. I am yet to drive it when it doesn’t put a massive smile on my face. It isn’t a diesel so I don’t even need to worry that I am poisoning the earth with emissions! It is a car that I genuinely enjoy looking at and being with, hence the reason it gets a wash every week.

Generally these steps or cialis professional generic methods involve daily work out plan, healthy diet for each and every disease or disorder you have been facing or you are facing in the present. Drinking beer and talking smack with my mates is also something I want to do. This stems from my love of cricket and the relationships you form. We aren’t the highest educated people and we are certainly a bit rough around the edges, but that’s what makes us get on so well. Nothing to serious ever happens in our conversations, but that does not matter, it is not about that. It is about the terrible stories told and the memories we make together.

Of course spending time with my family and our pet dog Roxy is extremely high on my list too. It is a cliche, but I would not be in the position today if it was not for them. We have our moments, but at the end of the day, I wouldn’t want anyone else.

The above is just a few things that I truly enjoy. Yes, work is there and it gets in the road, but without it, I wouldn’t be able to afford my car, my cricket fees or the beer I drink. So maybe I have to look at work in a different light and appreciate the fact that it gives me the opportunity to do the things I want. The time will come when I find my ‘calling’, but for the meantime, it is crucial to live in the present and let the future sort itself out – MD
